Why is the Streetscape project so important to downtown?
The streetscape project is important for many reasons. For starters, it will upgrade the existing infrastructure (sewer, water, electric, etc.) which is critical. Additionally, it will allow downtown to be more pedestrian friendly, it will improve traffic flow and will encourage downtown to be a destination. Improvements to downtown have been in the works for years...it's time to make it a reality.
Why do we need a neighborhood revitalization group?
Our neighborhoods have changed over the years. Our houses are getting older and our lives are busier. We may not know our neighbors that have lived across the street for 20 years. We want to improve our sense of community and enjoy our neighborhood.
Is there really crime in our neighborhood?
The answer is YES. Crime exists in every neighborhood, unfortunately. We hope that you haven't been a victim in the past and we'd like to prevent you from being a victim in the future through our neighborhood watch and interaction with our police task force.
How do we become members of the Downtown Turnaround Group?
Everyone is a member...if you live downtown, shop downtown, travel through downtown. There is no membership process. If you are interested in improving our neighborhood, we want you to join us! Visit our Contact Us page and send us your information. We'll add you to our e-mail group. Also- we update our website regularly, so check our News & Events page often.
Is there a membership fee?
No, we don't want your money. We do want your involvement, though! We want you to come meet your neighbors, to suggest ideas for improving our neighborhoods, to identify areas that concern you and to especially enjoy living in your home and the safe community around it.
